About Matthew Taylor
It’s not often that a biochemistry major and environmental law enthusiast finds his way to the practice of family law, but Matt Taylor is no ordinary lawyer.
Matt is an accomplished, well-seasoned attorney who has clerked for two Washington Court of Appeals judges, litigated high-profile insurance defense cases for a major Seattle law firm, and served hundreds of clients as a family law practitioner.
For Matt, serving clients in distress, “helping them navigate one of the most traumatic events of their lives,” has been a conscious choice and a source of great personal and professional satisfaction. As a divorcee himself, he knows first-hand the apprehension and distress facing his clients and, he contends, aims to help them avoid the “needless escalation” of an already challenging situation.
“Even when a divorce is amicable, every affected party experiences an enormous loss. The greatest compliment I can be paid—and the end result for which I always strive—is when a client tells me I was a steadying hand, helping them navigate a process filled with pain, confusion, and grief.”
This father of two adult children who makes his home in north Seattle and says he is most content “sharing a glass of wine or two with friends and family” says that his innate, nice-guy personality and droll sense of humor serve him well when it comes to connecting with clients. Equally important, he says, is the ability to meet people where they are, and to naturally empathize with their circumstances.
“I willingly share my own thoughts and experiences,” Matt adds. “As a result, my clients can feel comfortable opening up to me.”
